About Product Reviews

One of my goals with Unfolding Bytes is spreading the word about unique and innovative products I believe deserve more attention. However, with that goal comes an important responsibility, and it’s to maintain transparency and trust between my audience and the content on this site. The internet is boiling with affiliate and sponsored content at seemingly every turn, so I wanted to make this brief but clear.

Unfolding Bytes does not review any content based on a monetary gain or incentive. If it did, it would undermine one of the already established pillars from my opening letter. This means no sponsored content, and no sponsored reviews. Every software or hardware product I discuss or review is something I’ve been using long enough to thoroughly recommend, or was floored enough by its existence that I immediately had to share it. I want this website to be a place people are enthusiastic about and find worth their time, and any knowledge they accumulate from it should be as factual as it is intriguing. (With the exception of opinion-based articles of course, but those are tagged accordingly.) However, products and services are constantly changing, and depending on the date something here was published, there may be differences in the current product or service being offered versus what I wrote about at that time. If something undergoes a change large enough to the point of undermining statements in my work, I’ll post a notice at the top of the article to let readers know once I’m made aware of it.

Having said that, one of the most important things to do when absorbing information online is to widen your search and explore multiple sources. Don’t rely strictly on me for advice! Seek out opinions of other writers and gauge their ideas as well. The more natural you make this habit, the easier it will become for you to help combat spreading inaccurate information yourself.
